Rocks, fossils, documents, and a myriad of elements collected over years of walks are the starting point for the series Autopoiesis (2024). Elements from different expeditions and archives are articulated through procedures characteristic of conceptualism, such as intervention and combination, the articulation of texts as images, the use of documentation, and the contextualization of components.
The term *autopoiesis* (self-creation) is a neologism coined in 1972 by Chilean cell biologists and systems theorists Varela and Maturana to describe the ability of living cells to reproduce and organize themselves. For them, the term referred to a new understanding of the “organization of living systems,” which is based on the premise that all living entities are units organized around specific dynamic relationships, rather than any essence or set of component parts. In general, an autopoietic system is one that generates and reproduces itself.
Conceived as a graphic diary that has been constantly recombined over time, the small and delicate works in this series weave a poetic thread throughout the exhibition, interspersing images and text, objects and immaterialities, in a fluid dance that sweeps across the gallery.

As rochas, fósseis, documentos e uma miríade de elementos coletados através de caminhadas ao longo dos anos é o ponto de partida da série Autopoiesis (2024). Elementos de diferentes expedições e arquivos são articulados em procedimentos característicos do conceitualismo, como a intervenção e combinação, a articulação de textos enquanto imagem, o uso da documentação e a contextualização de componentes.
O termo autopoiese (autocriação) é um neologismo cunhado em 1972 por Varela e Maturana, biólogos celulares chilenos e teóricos de sistemas, para descrever a capacidade das células vivas de se reproduzir e se organizar. O termo designava para eles um novo conhecimento da “organização dos sistemas vivos” que tem como premissa a ideia de que todas as entidades vivas são unidades organizadas em torno de relações dinâmicas específicas e não qualquer essência ou conjunto de partes componentes.
